At IGNITE Firing Systems, your safety and show success are our top priorities. Whether you’re a seasoned backyard hero or transitioning from a hand-light show to IGNITE, it’s essential to follow a few basic guidelines before you press “Go.” Below you’ll find quick-reference safety tips and best-practice steps designed to help you set up, test, and execute your show with confidence and peace of mind.
Safety Tips
We know you’re eager to use your IGNITE system, but please review these safety tips first.
Handle fireworks with careNever position any part of your body over a firework or effect. Treat any module connected to fireworks as a loaded gun. Never handle or hold a lit or actively firing firework. |
|
Allow for cooldownIf a firework doesn't fire as expected, wait 30 minutes before handling or moving it. Use extreme caution when approaching the firework in case of delayed ignition. |
|
Don't mix alcohol and pyrotechnicsNever operate the system under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any substance that impairs judgment. Please IGNITE responsibly. |
|
Supervise children and petsAdult supervision is always required. |
|
Extinguish used fireworksKeep a hose or fire extinguisher nearby before, during, and after the show. |
|
Keep your distanceFor safety and a better viewing experience, keep the audience at least 150 feet away. |
|
Connect batteries firstEnsure the module is powered off before connecting the battery and igniters. |
|
Keep module powered off until fireworks are connectedMake sure the system is off while connecting fireworks. |
|
Stay alertBe aware of your surroundings and any hazards that may be present. |
|
Set up securelyPlace fireworks on a level surface. Avoid hard surfaces like asphalt that can cause bouncing or slipping. |
Best Practices for a Successful Show
Raise module off the ground
- Place your module on a golf-ball bucket or stable stand at least 12 in (30 cm) above ground level.
- This gives you a clear view of all igniter leads and prevents debris buildup around firing channels.
Confirm signal strength
- Stand at your intended firing distance (we recommend at least 50 ft / 15 m).
- On your controller’s signal-strength meter, look for at least three solid bars before firing.
- If you don’t see them, move closer or adjust your antenna and re-test.
Clip igniters onto fuse
- Attach one clip first and verify solid contact, then attach the rest.
- This reduces the chance of short-circuits or loose connections.
Watch for “Out of Range”
- If your controller displays an “Out of Range” warning, move closer until the indicator clears.
- Never fire while out of range—even a few feet can make the difference between success and a misfire.
