The range of the IGNITE system depends on your module and environment. Factors such as line of sight, module elevation, and peripherals like antennas can all affect performance.

Technical Details
Phones and tablets typically exceed 200 m (600 ft) in open, line-of-sight environments. In long-range field tests, IGNITE has reached over 300 m (1,000 ft).
| Module |
Typical Range (Clear Line of Sight) |
|---|---|
| IGNITE i18 / i36 |
Up to 150–300 ft (45–90 m) |
| IGNITE Lite |
Up to 100 ft (30 m) |
IGNITE modules use a power-boosted Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) 5.0 transceiver with an external antenna. Unlike standard Bluetooth, BLE 5.0 operates in the 2.4 GHz band and is designed for low-power, long-range control — ideal for reliable show operation.
The i18 and i36 modules use the Fanstel BT832XE BLE 5.0 module, featuring a built-in power amplifier and FCC/CE certification. Built on a Nordic Semiconductor transceiver, this hardware supports long point-to-point ranges and future expansion.
How to Maximize Your Range
To get the best range from your IGNITE modules, placement makes a major difference. Small adjustments in height and visibility can improve your connection and reliability.
Maintain a clear line of sight.
Keep your signal strong by avoiding obstructions like hills, buildings, vehicles, and dense foliage. Choose a spot with a clear view and gentle elevation whenever possible.
Elevate the module at least one foot off the ground.
Place it on a stable surface such as a bucket or crate. If you can’t raise the module itself, use an antenna extension cable to lift the antenna higher for a clearer line of sight.
Going Beyond Bluetooth Range
IGNITE can continue firing your show even if your device moves out of range. For example, if your device reaches 200 ft but you need 400 ft, enable the “Fire Out of Range” option. See Will My Show Fire if I'm Out of Bluetooth Range? for details.
To stop or pause your show, move back into range and use the app. For more information, see Firing Safety and How to Stop the Show Safely.
Troubleshooting Minimum Range
If your module isn’t reaching the expected range, check the following:
- Check line of sight and remove or move around any obstructions.
- Raise the module at least one foot off the ground. If that’s not possible, use an antenna extension cable to raise the antenna instead.
- Swap the antenna with one from a working module. Avoid third-party antennas as they may not match IGNITE’s specifications.
- Try a different device with newer hardware or firmware. Flagship phones and tablets often maintain stronger Bluetooth connections than budget models.
